Here are a five of my
favorite nest creations! CLICK ON EACH PHOTO TO ENLARGE. They have all been knitted and felted using the same pattern, Woolly Nest & Eggs. The yarns and novelties used are listed next to each nest.
PHOTO ONE: This nest used Nature Spun worsted weight yarn, 2 strands. I used raffia, and Crystal Palace
Fizz, color teal, and a thick ribbon at the rim of the nest. The eggs were knit and
embellished. Click here to view Embellished Eggs!
PHOTO TWO: This nest used one strand of Nature Spun worsted weight yarn, color 701W Stone, and
one strand of Nature Spun sport, color 720S Ash. The two colors knitted together give it a heathery-look. I also used raffia, hemp cord, and Crystal Palace Fizz, color tan 7322. All eggs were knit using
Frog Tree sport weight cream. The blue egg was dyed robin's egg blue using Kool-Aid,
the other, embroidered with linen floss.
PHOTO THREE: This nest used one strand of Nature Spun worsted weight yarn, color Wood Moss,
and one strand of Nature Spun sport weight, color
Ash, together. Trendsetter's Joy, in gold & green, are the ribbons that
sprout out from the nest. I used Squiggle, color Mink Mix; it gives the nest a twiggy-effect.
Green raffia was used in this nest, and it can be found in any craft store. The eggs were knit in Frog Tree Alpaca sport, colors: yellow #10 and green #80. Golden spots
were added to one egg using linen embroidery floss.
PHOTO FOUR: This purple-pink nest used one
stand of Nature Spun worsted weight yarn, color Sapphire,
by itself. I used 10-1/2 double point needles. I used pink Squiggle and tan Fizz and a variety of other bright novelty yarns
and ribbons. The egg was knit and felted with Frog Tree Alpaca sport weight, color pink #95. This nest would be cute
with a chocolate truffle egg tucked inside it!
PHOTO
FIVE: The small nest on the right, was knit using 10-1/2 double point needles using one strand of Jo Sharp DK, color Embers #84. The nest measures about 3 inches across.
I added Squiggle, Mink Mix, and tan Fizz to the nest, as well. The egg used Nature Spun
sport weight yarn, color Aran, that was dyed with Kool-Aid. The pattern instructs
how to dye with Kool-Aid.
